FA Forest Ltd - Growth from the ashes

FA Forest´s main operations are wood-based ash recycling for forest fertilizer use. FA Forest is the first and unique ash granulation firm worldwide. FA Forest has two granulation plants. Together these two plants produce approximately 40 thousand tonnes of granulated ash fertilizer.

Ash fertilization is one of the most profitable investment in forestry. It is also an ecological alternative since ash fertilization has an impact that lasts for decades. You can also prevent the climate change by ash fertilization because one ton of ash ties 15 tons of carbon dioxide during its duration of action.

Background

In Finland approximately 400 000 tonnes of wood and peat based ash is produced in different power plants. Major part of this is still carried out to landfills. FA forest´s aim is to enhance ash utilization and prevent landfill strain.

Products

FA Forest´s main product is granulated Ecolan® ash-fertilizer but the company produces also ash-fertilizer with chemically balanced micronutrient content and composts for silvicultural and agricultural use.

In addition to the fertilizer production FA Forest provides efficient logistics for ash from power plant to granulation, and from there to the forests including planning, transport and spreading facilities.

Safety and the environment

FA Forest is a pioneer company in developing and realizing wood-based ash fertilizer use. The production is based on long term research and development process. FA Forest uses only good quality ash that comes from various bioenergy power plants around Finland. The ash quality will be checked regularly by taking nutrient analysis of collected samples.

Ecolan® ash fertilizer does not harm ground waters nor the multiple use of forests because the nutrients it contains are in slow soluble form.
